"Taxi"

Taxi

Taxi just happened. The inspiration was a small Degas I had seen at the High museum called "Woman and Dog". I bought the postcard - I bought a little plastic box. I started painting and glueing metal shavings. It turned into a sort of self-portrait. The Woman had become the taxi driver wearing a bronze metal halo. I'm flagging her down and offering stones and strange objects - surrounded by domino-like patterns. The small postcard reproduction of the painting in the little plastic box encrusted with metal drippings, sits beside the painting.
